EFC 2023 Scholarship Winners

We are pleased to award the E.B. Horsman & Son EFC scholarships, through the Electro-Federation Canada Scholarship Program to Niko Tripolitis, Jordan Hinrichsen, Rion Schulz, and Bhupinder Singh.

Niko Tripolitis is a committed full-time Electrician Apprentice with a clear goal of achieving Journeyman status. His career choice is driven by his genuine desire to help others and his fascination with the electrical trade, along with the opportunity it provides to contribute to the housing sector. In addition to his professional pursuits, Niko generously dedicates his spare time to volunteering with organizations dedicated to supporting those in need.

Jordan Hinrichsen is actively working towards his goal to go back to school and become an electrical technologist. He has chosen this path because of his passion to learn about the mass diversity of the electrical field. During his free time, he enjoys volunteering at the community garden. “I was ecstatic when I found out I was awarded this scholarship. To be recognized and supported by a company within the electrical industry is a great surprise. I have no words on how appreciative I am and it will have a huge impact on my academic career. It takes a chunk of financial stress off my back so that I can focus more on my studies and overall be a better student.”

Rion Schulz has a passion to further develop and promote the integration and application of renewable energy technology and electrification to traditional practices within the fossil fuel industry. “I am pleased and honored to be a recipient of the 2023 E.B. Horsman & Son/EFC scholarship. In receiving this award, I am proud to represent my family, friends, school, employment, and community. While being given the support to actively pursue a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. I look forward to a future where I utilize my education to encourage the adoption and development of sustainable and ethical energy solutions. The energy transition is upon us, and we must leverage traditional energy methods to facilitate the shift to a greener future that shares a mutualistic relationship with traditional energy practices. I would like to thank the donor for this incredible support, and I look forward to what the future may hold!” 

Bhupinder Singh is currently working towards his Electrical Engineering degree. He is very intrigued about the automation of machines and is fascinated to see machines move automatically and navigate the world without human intervention. In addition to his studies, Bhupinder volunteers to teach martial arts to high school and elementary school children. In his free time, he is involved in exploring more about programming, 3D modelling and practicing Judo. “I want to extend my sincere gratitude to E.B Horsman & Sons for awarding me this scholarship. This scholarship serves as a vote of confidence in my abilities and potential. With this support, I can now fully concentrate on my studies, equipping me with the tools to make a meaningful impact. Thank you for this incredible opportunity.”

This marks the 9th year for E.B. Horsman & Son’s EFC scholastic program that will be offered annually to Western Canadian students to cultivate, encourage, and support their studies while exposing them to the electrical industry.
